Show Compare at Price Savings at Shopify Checkout
Customers abandon checkout when they forget why they're buying. Compare At Price on Checkout shows them exactly how much they're saving — automatically, in their local currency, with no code required.
What does Compare At Price on Checkout do?
Shopify shows compare at prices on product pages — but by default, that saving disappears the moment a customer enters checkout. This app brings it back. Once installed, it automatically reads the compare at price you've set on each product and displays the saving at every key moment in your checkout flow.
Discount codes and automatic discounts are included in the saving automatically. The app calculates what the customer actually pays and shows their true total saving in one clear number — no manual configuration needed.

Mobile & desktop
Shopify's checkout is fully responsive — the extension adapts to any screen size automatically, with no extra configuration.
Do I need Shopify Plus to show compare at price at checkout?
Yes. Checkout UI Extensions — the Shopify platform technology this app uses — are available only to stores on a Shopify Plus plan. This is a Shopify requirement, not a limitation of this app. If you are on Shopify Plus, the app works out of the box with no additional setup beyond the checkout editor.
On Shopify Plus, you can also manage each block's settings independently per market using the checkout editor's market selector — for example, showing savings as a percentage in the UK and as a fixed amount in the US.

Any Shopify Plus store that sets a compare at price on its products can show that saving at checkout. Common scenarios where displaying the original strikethrough price at checkout makes a real difference:
- Sale events — Show the original crossed-out price during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or seasonal sales so customers see exactly how much they are saving at checkout.
- Clearance and permanent markdowns — Products reduced from their original retail price. The compare at price appears as a strikethrough price next to each item at checkout.
- Bundle discounts — Display the combined saving when customers buy multiple products at a discounted price, showing the original total crossed out.
- Member and loyalty pricing — Show the regular price alongside the member price so customers see the value of their membership on every order.
- Flash sales and limited-time offers — Showing the saving at checkout creates urgency right before the customer clicks Pay, reducing abandonment on time-sensitive promotions.
- Wholesale and B2B stores — Display the standard retail price alongside the wholesale price to help buyers understand the margin they are receiving.
In all these cases, Shopify's default checkout hides the compare at price the moment customers leave the product page. This app brings it back — showing the saving at every step, in every currency.
Frequently asked questions
What is compare at price in Shopify?
Compare at price is a Shopify product field that lets you show the original or recommended retail price alongside a lower selling price — indicating a discount. When set, it typically appears as a strikethrough price on product pages. This app extends that display into your checkout so customers are reminded of their saving right when they are about to pay.
How do I show compare at price during Shopify checkout?
Install Compare At Price on Checkout from the Shopify App Store, open the checkout editor (Settings → Checkout → Customize), click Add app block, and select any of the 7 blocks. The savings display appears automatically for any product that has a compare at price set higher than its selling price.
Does Shopify show savings at checkout by default?
No. By default, Shopify's checkout does not show compare at prices or savings. This app adds that capability by using Shopify's Checkout UI Extensions platform, which requires a Shopify Plus plan.
Can I show the savings as a percentage at checkout?
Yes. Each block has a Savings Display setting with two options: Fixed Price (e.g. "Save $20.00") and Percentage Off (e.g. "20% Off"). You can set them differently per block and — on Shopify Plus — differently per market.
Does it work with discount codes?
Yes. The app calculates savings based on the actual amount the customer pays — so both compare at price discounts and any applied discount codes or automatic discounts are included in the displayed saving. Customers see their true combined total saving.
Does it work with multiple currencies?
Yes. The app uses Shopify's market and currency context at checkout to always display savings in the customer's local currency. Note: the market must use Dynamic FX currency conversion for compare at prices to appear.
What is the Line Item Editor block?
Block 7 — Line Item Editor — lets customers change product options (size, colour, etc.), adjust quantity, or swap to a different product entirely, all from within checkout. It eliminates the need for customers to leave checkout and return to your store to make changes.
How much does it cost?
The app costs $2.99 per month with a 14-day free trial included. You can install and use all 7 blocks during the trial at no charge. Full details at apps.shopify.com/compare-at-price-1.
